What would you do with shower caps on a finely tuned, precision instrument such as the XT10? Well, you use them to keep foreign particles and critters off of your optics and out of the OTA. I chose the popular polka dot model as it is reported to improve the optical quality of your telescope. Others have reported success with blue and lavender. Avoid stripes at all costs as they will degrade your images appreciably.
These cost all of $1.79 from any of the Marts and will serve you well for years. These are always on my OTA when it’s not in use. In addition, I put a blanket over the entire setup when it is stored in the garage.
